Awaken Your Kundalini

The Main Methods of Awakening

Kundalini represents the coming consciousness of mankind.  Our kundalini is a sleeping dormant potential force in the human organism and is located at the base of the spinal column.  It is a gland that you can even take out and press.  This energy is dormant that even if you do press it, it will not explode.

To awaken kundalini you must prepare yourself through many yogic techniques like asanas, pranayama, kriya and meditation. When you can direct your breath, prana to your dormant seat of kundalini, the energy wakes and passes through the sushumna nadi, through the central nervous system, to the brain. As it ascends, the kundalini energy passes through each chakra, which are connected with different areas of the brain that are silent.  When this energy is awakened there is the dormant areas of the brain start to open and blossom like flowers.

Kundalini can be awakened through multiple methods which you can practice individually or combined, according to the tantras.

1. Awakening By Birth

They say if your parents were highly evolved, you can be born with an awakened kundalini.  You can also be born with awakened shushumna, the spiritual channel, ida or pingala nadi.  Ida nadi flows from the left side of mooladha chakra, and Pingala nadi flows from the right side of mooladhara. Ida is passive, introvert and feminine, the mood nadi. Pingala is active, extrovert and masculine, and is the sun nadi.

If a person is born awakened, their life experiences are under much control. It all takes place within them in a natural way, with understanding and they never seem to feel extensive things are happening to them.  A child with awakened kundalini will have clarity, vision, a high quality of thinking and extraordinary philosophy.  They have total detachment and portray very mature behaviours and tend not to react emotionally to anything in life.

2. Mantra

Mantras are a very powerful and risk free method to awaken kundalini, however it is a sadhana which takes time and a lot of patience.  You first need to find a suitable mantra, preferably from a guru who can guide you. Practicing mantras will help you develop your vision and higher force which allows you to live life with the inner knowing of being indifferent to everything around you.

Repeating a mantras over and over again creates a sound force that gathers momentum and creates a vibration throughout the ocean of your mind.  When you practice mantras millions and billions of times it permeates throughout the body and brain, purifying your whole physical, emotional and mental well being.

They must be practiced outloud, softly, on the mental level and psychic plane. By practicing them on all four levels, it is said that kundalini will awaken methodically and systematically.

3. Tapasya

Tapasya means the performance of austerities. It is a means of purification, burning or setting on fire as a process of elimination, not physically but emotionally and mentally. Through this process the whole personality is cleaned of dirt, and behaviour patterns that cause pain or suffering.

Habits and patterns must be destroyed at the psychic root, not just at the conscious level. Tapasya is a psychological or psycho-emotional process where the person tries to initiate a process of moving metabolism to eradicate the habits that can cause weakness or the obstruct the awakening of willpower.

Through repetitive practice, the deficiency of will can be built up by removing the distance between resolution and execution. The will power that is weak, then makes a decision once and for all, and the matter is finished. That emotional or mental energy charge is eliminated.

4. Herbs

In sanskrit, this method is called aushadhi, and should not be mistaken as the use of LSD or other drugs. It is one of the most powerful and rapid methods to awaken kundalini, but it is not for everyone and few people know about it. Different herbs in our world can transform the nature of the body and elements to envoke a partial or full awakening.

This method should be practiced alongside a guru or qualified guide because these herbs awaken ida or pingala, other herbs can suppress both these nadis and quickly lead a person to the mental ward.   Ordinary people who were not prepared, competent or qualified, have misused plants and the aushadhi form of awakening. This is a reason you do not want to awaken your kundalini in an impatient manner, as if you are not ready to handle the powers and energies that come with it, schizophrenia or different mental dis-eases an develop.

Soma– a juice extracted from stalks of a plant, picked on special days during the lunar cycle.  After that, it was buried until the full moon and is said to induce visions, experiences and promote awakening of higher consciousness.

Ayahuasca – a substance useful in certain therapeutic and self-knowledge, approaches and is being studied long by natural healers, doctors & health care providers world wide. It is used for a wide range of problems, focusing on helping people through the processes and harmful habits for themselves and for others. In fact, its use in detoxification and addiction is a fact in countries like Brazil and Peru shape as one of the leading treatments for substance dependence.

Ayahuasca can be an effective therapy in the psychological treatment of depression and anxiety, addictions, as well as schizophrenia.

Seek a guru to guide you properly through your experience.

5. Raja Yoga

The emerging of of individual consciousness with the superconsciousness. It is a sequential process of concentration, meditation and communion. Raja yoga is a mild and durable experience, it can lead to depression and may not feel like doing anything. This path may be difficult for some people as it requires time, discipline and much patience.

The mind is active all the time, it is its nature, therefore it can be difficult on people because when we try to concentrate the mind we create a split mind. So practice should be done progressively. Once awakening happens through raja yoga, the person can move past hunger, habits or addictions.

6. Pranayama

If a person who is readily prepared and practices the method of pranayama intensely, in an environment that is quiet, cool and peaceful, if its possible at high altitudes can help.  Along with a diet that is just enough to maintain life, kundalini can awaken in an instant explosion!

Pranayama is a way to focus on the breath control as well as a way to increase the prana in the body… but it is so much more.  Pranayama is a very powerful way to awaken kundalini by creating heat in the body, the yogic fire.

The extra heat created in the body can awaken different centres of the brain.

It is one of the most simple ways for modern day society, as it does not require confrontation of the mind. Through kriya yoga, the kundalini awakens slowly and gently. Opening her eyes and then closing them, looking around, turning her head, stretching.

8. Tantric Initiation

A secret way to awaken.  People with transcended passions and those who have a great understanding of Shiva and Shakti are said to be entitled.  Those who carry different urges, or need physical contact, this is the quickest way to awaken.  Transformation is taking place without you even knowing. It can happen in 3 seconds.

9. Shaktipat

You will experience Samadhi and can practice all asanas, pranayamas, mudras and bandhas… the interesting thing is, without even having studied or prepared yourself for them. You know the mantras, your eyes are glowing, skin is soft and healthy and the body gives off a very balanced aroma.
